Live racking, also known as live storage racking or dynamic
racking, is a type of storage system designed for high-density
storage and efficient order picking. It utilizes inclined gravity
rollers or conveyors to create a dynamic flow of goods within the
racking structure.
In live racking systems, the racking structure is inclined at a
slight angle, and rollers or conveyor tracks are installed within
the lanes. The products or cartons are loaded onto the higher end
of the rack, and due to the force of gravity, they move along the
rollers or conveyors towards the lower end.
Live racking is commonly used in various industries, including
retail, e-commerce, distribution centers, and manufacturing, where
there is a need for high-volume storage and efficient order
fulfillment. It is particularly suitable for products with a high
turnover rate, such as fast-moving consumer goods.
